New Band Cutting Concept on Pharmafill(TM) NB1 Cuts Compressed Air, Saves Energy
Wall, NJ: Packaging machinery manufacturer Deitz Co., Wall, NJ (www.Deitzco.com) has introduced a new blade assembly on its Pharmafill(TM) NB1 tamper-evident neck banding machine. Included as standard at no extra charge, the new blade assembly automatically cuts shrink bands from rollstock using 63 percent less compressed air than the original design. The proprietary design cuts the neck bands using 15 psi instead of 40 psi to save significantly on electricity and energy costs while reducing blade dulling, extending service life, and reducing downtime for replacement. Individual shrink bands are cut and applied to bottles and other containers at speeds of up to 100 bands per minute with clean, precise cuts that ensure secure heat sealing downstream.
Developed for contract packaging companies and food, nutrition, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, the new blade assembly also helps operators calibrate the pressure setting if adjustments are needed based on the gauge, tear-resistance, and other properties of the plastic shrink bands. The assembly may be retrofit onto the hundreds of Pharmafill neck banding machines currently in operation by on-site personnel in minutes.
The tamper-evident bander with the new blade assembly is manufactured in the company’s Wall, New Jersey headquarters. The proprietary shrink banding system may be tested on the company’s in-house testing and training line with a variety of band materials and thicknesses to verify performance.
